About Sven van Hees
If you hear a tune that reminds you of a long hot Summer at the beach it’s probably produced by Sven Van Hees! Antwerp's best kept secret started out as a DJ on pirate radio a the age of 15, shortly after producing ‘Liaisons Dangereuses” which would become Belgium’s first & most popular radioshow dedicated to Dance Music (which he ran together with host Paul Ward). In 1989, that infamous second Summer of Love, Sven lived for half a year in Ibiza while being resident DJ. He started producing Techno, Tribal & House Music beginning of the 90’s on various labels such as Wonka Music, Global Cuts, Usa Import, Atom, Elektron and R & S Records. Around 1996 he made quiet a dramatic career change by switching his productions towards Chil Out. It wasn't until 1999 before the entire world would find out what he had been cooking up for years with the release of his album ‘Gemini’. A classic in its genre, the album became the blueprint for Lounge music for many years to come. Various tracks from Gemini ended up on hundreds of international compilations. A star was born again! He followed up with Calypso in 2002, released a compilation on Blue Note Records, lived for a while in San Francisco while hooking up with the Naked Music label for which he DJ'd at several International events & started touring with his LiveBand 'The Svengali Squad'. In 2005 Van Hees started his own label Your Lips releasing CD, vinyl & digital downloads while he continued exploring all things Chill Out & House releasing a total of 9 full albums and countless singles & remixes ever since.In 2016 he was Resident DJ at the Six Senses, Laamu - Maldives Resort & worked as an external Stringer for Apple Music in the meantime until 2017. As a DJ he continues to travel the globe looking for inspiration while spreading his signature sound on various events, beach bars & clubs.
